TLC Newton is a locally based crowdfunding platform that empowers individuals to support the businesses, organizations and initiatives that have a positive impact on Downtown Newton. Crowdfunding, or the practice of raising funds to support a project from a large number of people, is a viable way to support local business expansion.
This project is part of a two-year research study funded by a USDA Small Business Innovation Research grant to gauge this platform’s effectiveness in rural areas. The Downtown Newton Development Association was chosen as 1 of 10 organizations across the country to host this platform. TLC Newton will accept campaign proposals from businesses and organizations that are seeking to implement programming that has a positive impact in Downtown Newton. Projects that complement the mission of the Downtown Newton Development Association, including cultivating entrepreneurship and mixed used development embracing cultural, visual, and performing arts along with preserving the history of downtown Newton thus creating a safe and active family lifestyle will receive special consideration. One project will be chosen and that entity will receive training and support from TLC Newton to ensure a successful crowdfunding experience.
Campaign submissions will be accepted through December 2, 2017. One project will be chosen to kick off in January of 2018!
